The availability of different means of transport for taking photos is sometimes essential. On my recent trip to South Africa, I could take nature pictures from the three shown here.
All-terrain vehicle. This model is most common in nature reserves in Africa, has very good visibility and many advantages: the animals have become accustomed to it and you can get really close to them. Although it may seem dangerous when approach lions or leopards, they regard it as too big to be considered as a potential prey and harmless. But it is strictly forbiden to stand up. The set is broken and the one who stands up might appear as a threat or, worse, as a potential prey. Since this vehicle was able to photograph from a few meters, this lions’ pride in the Lion Sands reserve, near the Kruger Park.

To be able to photograph from a helicopter is always a luxury. It is important to have small windows that can be open to take pictures through them, not through the glass. (Or without doors, as I have flown several times though is very uncomfortable). You need to shoot at 1 / 500 of at list; otherwise the vibration caused by the propellers makes the pictures come out blurred. From it I photographed the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains, which inspired Tolkien the scenarios of his novel The Lord of the Rings.

And the most classic of all them: by foot. The difference is that in this case we were three people acompanied by a Ranger to photograph hippos in the natural reserve of Sta Lucia. Very slowly, without making any noise, and very aware in case that our guide could see any sign of danger (The hippo is the wild animal that kills more people in Africa) to run to the shelter of our all-terrain vehicle parked in the vicinity.
