MAGNUM AND THE OWN’S IMAGE RIGHT

CRISTINA GARCÍA RODERO / MAGNUM

CRISTINA GARCÍA RODERO / MAGNUM

I use the entry of Cristina Garcia Rodero in Magnum to make a final reflections on the rights of the people photographed, especially children, and Street Photography.

Here are a couple of Cristina’s photos published in The Hidden Spain, a book that gave Garcia Rodero a deserved reputation worldwide. Could they be published now?

This is the cover of the book Mondo Bambino, published in 2002, which Magnum’s Ferdinando Scianna dedicated me. Inside there are 110 pictures of children around the world. ¿Do they violates their image rights?

Talking about Street Photos, here you can see the video of Bruce Gilden, Magnum, taking pictures in New York. Here, I have to admit that I would not take the photos this way. But they have been published and exhibited world wide.

And finally, an extraordinary document of the MASTER, Henri Cartier-Bresson, taking photographs wits his Leica. A lesson of how to take take pictures “a la sauvette”. He is the discretion and elegance personified.
WARNING (The language is French. In the first part you can see Cartier-Bresson at work. Then it follows a long conversation ).
